Alexa Anderson was raised in Concord, and attended the Willard School, Concord Middle School and Concord-Carlisle Regional High School before attending Columbia College, Columbia University. It was largely her experience at CCHS that ingrained in her a sense of civic duty, inspired by CCHS educators Elliot Lillien, Bob Furey and Dennis Clearly of the Social Studies department, and Peter Atlas, her beloved theater director and Spectrum advisor.
Upon returning to Concord in 2002 with her husband, Cato, also a Concord native and CCHS graduate, she immersed herself immediately in civic life, volunteering with the following local organizations:

-
Milldam Nursery School, where she sat for years on the Board of Directors, specially leading the Membership Committee
-
Concord Museum, where she worked alongside Sue Gladstone and Peggy Burke prior to their capital campaign
-
Communications Committee of the Concord Free Public Library during the lead-up to their capital campaign
-
Thoreau School PTG, where she established the Communications Committee to help unite a fractured school community and eventually served as Vice President
-
Willard School PTG, where she was on the Executive Board
-
Concord Carlisle High School Parents Association, where she serves as a Class of 2027 Parent Representative
-
Concord Ed Fund, serving on the planning committee of their annual fundraising gala
-
Concord Carlisle Foundation, where she works in the Community Closet
On the School Committee, Alexa has focused on ensuring that the programs and services offered in our schools advance the academic achievement of our diverse student body, while also supporting their mental health, well-being and sense of belonging. She also recognizes the precarious financial situation that Concord and so many other small municipalities face, with rising costs and increasing needs. With that in mind, she negotiates fiercely - securing fiscally sound contracts with Concord's multiple unions, which represent about 80 percent of the school's operating costs. She is a proven collaborator, securing endorsements from six sitting school committee members and three previous school committee members. Her work on the Concord School Committee is of profound importance to her, as she works cooperatively alongside the school administration to ensure that Concord Schools maintain their storied tradition of academic excellence, while also adapting to the demands and changes of student's needs today.
